If you were to open me
You’d find I’m full of moisture
For fifty gallons in one day
Are filtered by one oyster.

And over time I build a shell
And hold it tightly shut
It’s very hard to open me
Without a knife to cut.

I always stay in just one place
And sometimes build a pearl
It’s pretty, round, and shiny
A jewel worn by human girls.

And I predict that when we meet
I’m probably yours to eat
But that’s okay, I feel no pain,
I’m glad that life’s a treat.
