King Cobra

king cobra

There are many kinds of snakes:
There’s vipers, adders, boas…
But none’s as cool
As this snake that rules:
The long, deadly, King Cobra!

When I’m surprised
I raise head high
And stretch my neck out wide
It’s just my way
To simply say:

I’m not your friend
Touch me – you’re dead!
My fangs are filled with venom!
Like lightning strikes
I’ve a quick bite
I’m a snake to stay away from!

I’m unique, cool,
But this snake rules…
By causing lots of fear!
So now you know
The King Cobra
Is a snake not to be near!

If you are ever in a swamp
Be careful where you step
For in the fog
We look like logs
Floating where it is wet.

But see my snout?
Oh no! – Watch out!
There’s danger underneath
I open wide
You see inside
Eighty razor sharp teeth!

So don’t get close!
I often boast
There is no hunter greater
Than this scaly,
Very scary,
Armored alligator!

So now you know
Watch where you go
When walking through a swamp
My mouth is long
And very strong
It likes to go –

When danger’s near
We snakes appear
To hold our heads up high
That’s how we say
“Please go away”
No need for you to die!

You see my hood?
It says you should
Back away from me!
And if I hiss
You’d be amiss
Not to turn and flee!

But if you try
To grab this guy
Bad venom I’ll inject
It won’t just hurt
You’ll hit the dirt
Too late to learn respect…

Komodo dragon

I may not breathe fire
But I flick my tongue with rapid-fire!
And true I don’t grab princesses
It’s fat pigs that I desire!
And instead of mountain reaches
You will find me chilling on the beaches!
But one thing we have in common?
Is the ferocity of “dragon”!

It’s as though a wizard made a lizard
But this dragon is no myth!
I’m just the largest lizard of all
Of the greatest length and greatest width!
And I point my head up to the air
To prove I do not care
For I know I’m cool
Have lizard rule
With sharp teeth and killer stare!

For we may not have those wings!
And we may not breathe that fire!
But in addition to fat pigs
It’s their fans that we desire!
So go ahead and hop upon
The greatest of bandwagons
And cheer the mightiest lizards of all!
The great Komodo dragons!
