Platypus

If I was a platypus
I would have a bill
With the body of a beaver
And webbed feet to help me swim!

If I was a platypus
I’d be a monotreme
Meaning our mammalian babies
Come from eggs laid by the stream!

If I was a platypus
I’d waddle on the land
And in the water I would paddle
Eating shrimp out from the sand!

If I was a platypus
I’d be covered in dark fur
But at the corner of each ankle
Would be a deadly, poison spur!

If I was a platypus
I would have a tail
As flat as a mat
But would help me as I sail!

But wait, I am a platypus!
What a funny thing I be!
But that’s ok, don’t you agree?
No animal is so pretty!
